Authority Athletics predicted American League award winners yesterday. Today, we shift our focus to the National League. These are the players I think are taking home the hardware in the National League.
Most Valuable Player
The easy answer is to pick either Shohei Ohtani or Mookie Betts from the Dodgers. But I’m taking Ronald Acuna Jr of the Atlanta Braves. Acuna is a truly special talent and I think the Braves are going to win the AL East with ease thanks in large part to Acuna. I’m predicting Acuna is a member of the 40/40 club this year with at least 40 home runs and stolen bases. For the record, I am taking Ohtani and Betts to finish 2nd and 3rd in NL MVP voting.

Cy Young
Spencer Strider might be the most dominant pitcher in all of baseball. His 281 strikeouts led Major League Baseball last season. I believe he will once again lead all of baseball in strikeouts and rack up several wins backed by the strong Braves offense.
I’m taking Tyler Glasnow of the Dodgers to finish 2nd in Cy Young voting. With the Dodgers lineup, each of their starters should have plenty of run support. Glasnow had a disappointing season last year with the Rays. I think he bounces back in a big way this year.
Rookie of the Year
I’m taking Jackson Chourio who is the future of the outfield for the Milwaukee Brewers. Chourio has all the tools needed to succeed; power, speed, defense, etc. I think he puts up solid stats with a minimum of 25 home runs and 25 stolen bases on his way to NL Rookie of the Year honors.
I think Dodgers rookie Yoshinobu Yamamoto is a close 2nd in the NL Rookie of the Year voting. The fact is the Dodgers should provide such good run support that each of their starters reaches double digit wins.
