Dak Prescott is currently awaiting a contract extension from the Dallas Cowboys. The quarterback is set to become a free agent after the 2024 season if a deal is not reached. Perhaps the Cowboys should hold off on offering an extension.

Dak Prescott has been the starting quarterback for the Cowboys since 2016. What have the Cowboys won under his tenure? No championships, no trips to the Super Bowl, not even a trip to the Conference Finals. Dak Prescott has won a total of 2 playoff games in his career. Maybe, it’s time to start discussing whether Dak Prescott is the guy that can lead America’s Team to the promised land.

If I am the Cowboys front office, I’m using this season as a “make or break” campaign. If Dak can’t bring his team far in the playoffs, get somebody who can. That may very well mean that the Cowboys draft and develop a quarterback which would transition the team into a quasi-rebuild. So be it! The goal is not to simply make the playoffs, it’s to win in the playoffs.

So far, Dak Prescott hasn’t shown that he can do that as the Cowboys starter. It’s time for Prescott to perform or find a new home.
