The NHL just wrapped up All-Star week and resumed regular season play. That being said, I figured it would be a good time to look at some of the biggest all-star snubs in the NHL. It’s mind blowing to believe some of these players didn’t make the roster.
Mikko Rantanen: The Avalanche sent 3 representatives to the game, but Rantanen wasn’t one of them. The power forward was tied for 6th in the entire league in points at the break.
Noah Dobson: The Islanders representative was Mathew Barzal. No disrespect to Barzal, but Dobson leads the Islander in points, and he is a defenseman! He also ranked 3rd among NHL defenseman in scoring. He is having a season worthy of Norris trophy consideration yet was left off the roster.

Victor Hedman: Many thought Hedman’s production would be on the decline as he got older. That hasn’t been the case at all. Hedman was 4th among defenseman in scoring at the break and is on pace for a point per game this season.
Zach Hyman: Obviously McDavid and Draisaitl made the roster, but it’s shocking that Hyman didn’t get the nod as well. He is on pace for over 50 goals this season!
Joey Daccord: The Kraken representative was Oliver Bjorkstrand who is having a decent season. However, Daccord has been lights out posting a 2.32 GAA and .921 Save percentage. Goaltenders with worst stats made the roster instead.
This leads me to a different point – look out tomorrow for our article on why major sports leagues should get rid of all-star games altogether.
