My brother and I are taking in a local WHL game between the Wenatchee Wild and Tri City Americans tonight. Neither one of us have seen the Wenatchee Wild play before so we are quite excited to see the newest WHL team in action. As an avid hockey fan, I can’t help but turn my attention to the prospects that will be on display during the matchup. Let’s discuss some of them here:

Tri City Americans

The Americans are our local team and as a result we are quiet familiar with their players. The two top prospects I will be watching will be Lukas Dragicevic who was taken in the 2nd round of the NHL Entry Draft by the Seattle Kraken last year and Deagan McMillan who went undrafted last year but could be a late selection in this year’s NHL draft. I have previously written prospect profiles for both players that are visible HERE.

Wenatchee Wild

Graham Sward: Sward is having a fantastic season with the Wild. In fact, he is 2nd among WHL defenseman in total points with a total of 73 points in 58 games. Sward was a fifth-round pick of the Nashville Predators at last year’s draft. His rights were traded yesterday to the Colorado Avalanche in a deal involving fellow WHL’er Jeremy Hanzel. He hasn’t signed a contract yet, but with the year he is having I would be shocked if he wasn’t given an entry level contract by the Avs. I have seen Sward play before from his time with the Spokane Chiefs but am definitely looking forward to getting another viewing.

Miles Cooper: Cooper currently has a respectable 14 goals and 28 assists for a total of 42 points through 57 games. The forward does offer versatility as he can play either on the wing or down the middle. Cooper is listed at 5’11” and 165 Lbs. so he will obviously need to fill out a bit to succeed at the next level. Currently, the forward is ranked 123rd among draft eligible North American skaters via Elite Prospects.
