Anything is possible in the playoffs, right? I guess you could say that, but I’m not giving the Capitals much of a chance versus the New York Rangers.

The Rangers are simply too good of a hockey team. They have elite talent, depth, defense, and goaltending. Their regular season was truly impressive and culminated by the club securing the President’s Trophy as the league’s best team.

The Capitals simply don’t match up on any level. Ovechkin is not the player he once was and is not capable of carrying his team through a series any longer. The defense, depth, and especially goaltending is all subpair when compared to the Rangers.

I look for the Rangers to cruise through this series, winning in a sweep or a maximum of 5 games. I believe Igor Shesterkin is going to have an incredible 1st round and that’s why I’m picking him to be the star of the series.

There you have it – I’m picking the Rangers to move to the 2nd round!
