Fans of all sports love to cheer on their home teams. What about those poor fans that don’t have home teams to root for? Do they cheer for the closest team? Closest team in what direction? To prevent this anarchy, the MLB should consider growing. The MLB is ready to expand and bring about more markets. Here are some areas where the MLB can expand into:
Louisville, Kentucky: How is it that the city that is responsible for making the very essence of the game does not have a baseball team? Louisville is the home of the Louisville Slugger Factory and Museum, and with a metro area population of around 1.28 million, there are plenty of fans available to cheer on the “Louisville Sluggers”.
Salt Lake City, Utah: The Utah Jazz is the only thing fans have to cheer for in Utah. With a metro area population similar to Louisville, there’s no reason a baseball team couldn’t thrive here.
Indianapolis, Indiana: The city alone is nearly at the 1 million mark, with the metro area over 2 million. There are other teams nearby, hello White Sox, that could serve as a good rival.
Portland, Oregon: Portland also has an area over 2.5 million. This area is full of dedicated Blazers fans, and, let’s be honest, there’s not much to cheer for with the Seattle Mariners.
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma: There’s one thing that Texas loves to do and that’s talk trash about Oklahoma. What better way to create a baseball rivalry than to expand into OK City with a baseball team to challenge the Rangers and Astros?
Did I miss a city? Where else do you think the MLB could expand into? Let us know below.
