Authority Athletics has previously discussed areas of the Dallas Cowboys that need to be addressed for the team to be able to finally compete for a Super Bowl. To recap, we discussed how Jerry Jones needs to lose control and Mike McCarthy needs to be fired. Add to the list – the Dallas Cowboys desperately need to address the running game.

The Cowboys let long tenured running back Ezekiel Elliott walk last offseason. The thought being Tony Pollard was ready and able to handle the majority of the workload. Well, it just didn’t work out for Pollard. He lacked the effectiveness of previous seasons. The explosiveness in his game seemed to be gone. He did gain over 1,000 yards this season (just barely with 1,005), but he simply wasn’t a threat in the Cowboys’ offense.

The Cowboys need a strong running game to balance out the offense. There is simply too much pressure on Dak and the passing game. A solid running back will allow the Cowboys to utilize play action more effectively and keep defending teams honest. Look for the Cowboys to address the running back position in the draft or free agency. Come on down Derrick Henry!

How should the Cowboys address the running game?
