We have already discussed the longest championship droughts in the NBA and MLB. Now, it’s time to take a look at the longest droughts in the NHL.
Vancouver Canucks (54 years): The Canucks became a team in 1970 and have never won a championship. They’ve had impressive years with amazing rivalries. There is true heartbreak for the fans as the Canucks have made it to game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals on two different occasions, losing to the New York Rangers in 1994 and the Boston Bruins in 2011.

Buffalo Sabres (54 years): The Sabres entered the league with the Canucks and have also never won a championship. The Sabres are struggling this season, but they seem to be building something special with young talent throughout their lineup. Look for them to compete for a title in the next 3-5 years.
Toronto Maple Leafs (57 years): I don’t think this one is a surprise to anyone. It just seems there is disappointment season after season. The Leafs currently have some of the best talent in the world on their roster but have only been out of the first round of the playoffs a single time. The Leafs last won a championship in 1967 and have been in the league since 1917. That’s a long time for some of the most dedicated fans in all of sports to not be able to celebrate.
