The Dallas Stars eliminated the Colorado Avalanche last night in what was a very entertaining game. Duchene scored the game winning goal in the 2nd overtime into essentially an empty net after a hectic play in front of goaltender Alexandar Georgiev.

Duchene was all over the place in the overtime periods. He was parked in front of the Avalanche netminder during a disallowed goal in the first overtime frame. He followed that up with a breakaway that was poked checked away at the last second by Georgiev. He was by far the most active and energetic skater in the extra minutes.

The goal has to be a little extra satisfying for Duchene. Scoring the goal that eliminated his former club in Denver where he gets booed every time he touches the puck. For the record, as an Avalanche fan I think it is ridiculous that he still gets booed (but that is a story for a different time).

Duchene and the Stars advanced to the Western Conference finals to take on either the Edmonton Oilers or Vancouver Canucks. The Stars have now knocked off the defending champions and a club many picked to win it all. They now have to be seen as the odds-on favorites to win the cup.
