I chose the Seattle Mariners to win the AL West this season. I’m second guessing my pick at the moment. The Mariners have started the season with 3 wins and 4 losses, but more concerning is their lack of offense.

The Mariner’s offense has looked downright awful to start the season. One has to ask is this simply a slow start or a true reflection of the offense. Let’s consider the starts by some of their prominent players.
- J.P. Crawford .115 AVG, 1 HR
- Mitch Garver .143 AVG, 0 HR, 0 RBI
- Jorge Polanco .154 AVG, 0 HR, 0 RBI
- Julio Rodriguez .185 AVG, 0 HR, 1 RBI
- Cal Raleigh .235 AVG, 0 HR, 0 RBI
Simply put – That is not a lot of production. Going into the season I expected the Mariners to add more power to their lineup as the trade deadline approached. However, they may not have the luxury of waiting that long. If this type of production continues, the Mariners might find themselves in a hole they can’t dig out of.
The question then is, do the Mariners remain status quo and wait for players like Julio Rodriguez and Cal Raleigh to turn around OR do they consider trading away one of their quality starters or prospects to add to the lineup now?
